Indian women skipper Mithali Raj is cautious of Sri Lanka challenge before the World T20. India will take on Sri Lanka in three One-Day Internationals and five T20Is which will serve as the perfect practice for the upcoming World T20.

In fact, Mithali Raj doesn’t want to take the Island nation lightly. Raj said that Sri Lanka has some really good players who have done well in the recent past. Sri Lankan players have shown the potential to do well.

Raj will look to raise team’s confidence.

On the other hand, the Indian team isn’t in the best of forms. They were cleaned swept by Australia while playing in the Indian conditions. Subsequently, they were also thrashed in the following tri T20 series as they were knocked out by Australia and England. Furthermore, India could not defend their Asia Cup title for the first time when they lost against Bangladesh.

“We have played Sri Lanka in the World Cup, in the Asia Cup and I should admit that it’s a team that has grown from year to year,” Raj said in Colombo. “Now the gap between the top teams and the bottom teams is narrowing because of the ICC Women’s Championship.”

Meanwhile, Mithali Raj believes Sri Lanka is showing the upward swing in their improvement graph.

“You do have a player here who is representing Sri Lanka in the Big Bash League,” Raj said. “That in itself should show that you have a very strong team, but India definitely is very positive about our own performance on the field.”
