After a terror filled International break that shook millions of people all around the world, football resumed showing its strength all over Europe. The Premier League games this weekend started with the French national anthem showing the unity between the nations. These events were sure to spur some adrenaline into the players as some rose to the occasion with stunning performances.

Here is the team of the week for Match Day 13 when some interesting matches were played:

Goalkeeper:

David de Gea (Manchester United):

Even as United were having a hard day against Watford, their shot-stopper David de Gea was in top form as he pulled out 3 fine saves to help the Red Devils hold on to the lead and steal all three points.

Defense:

Danny Simpson (Leicester City):

Simpson was a live wire at the St James Park when Leicester took on Newcastle. The full-back was ever present in the Foxes attacks on the night and yet managed to keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 victory.

Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur):

The Belgian showed his strength and ariel ability keeping the threat of Andy Carroll limited in Spurs’ 4-1 victory over West Ham. He also helped his club at the other end heading in the team’s second goal.

Jonas Olsson (West Bromwich Albion):

One of the major reasons why Arsenal could not get even a point from their trip to the hawthorns was the performance of Jonas Olsson at the back. He stood tall and made a number of blocks and also defended well in the air. A standout performance by the center back.

Erik Pieters (Stoke City):

An all round performance from Stoke’s left back Pieters got his club all three points against the Saints. Pieters completed 91% of his passes and also gave the assist for the only goal in the game for Bojan.

Mid-field:

James Morrison (West Bromwich Albion):

The central midfielder was instrumental in WBA’s comeback against Arsenal. He frustrated the visitors in front of the defense and also scored the equalizer that gave the home team to their best result this season.

Ross Barkley (Everton):

His ruthless energy and dynamism were ever present, but the England international also added the end product in their 4-0 win against Aston Villa. He bagged two goals and an assist on the night.

Phillipe Coutinho (Liverpool):

One half of the Brazilian duo that ripped Manchester City apart at the Etihad, Coutinho has found fine form in the last few games as he added to his 4 goals in the last three games with a neat finish in the first half. He also provided the assist for Firmino’s goal.

Attack

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur):

The England International was slow off the blocks at the start of the season but has found his goal scoring form taking his tally to 8 this season with a brace in Tottenham’s victory against West Ham

Jamie Vardy (Leicester City):

The talk of the season, Jamie Vary has been in sublime form and has equaled the record of Ruud van Nistelrooy of 10 consecutive goals in Premier League appearances. His pace and directness were too much for Newcastle.

Romelu Lukaku (Everton):

The big Belgian striker is back in form for Everton as he showed an all round display of his abilities against Aston Villa. He bagged two goals and has joined an elite club of players to have 50 Premier League goals under the age of 23.
