WWE Mixed Match Challenge entered its ninth week on Facebook Live. Prior to this week’s episode, the contestants received some big news. The winners of this season will earn a trip to anywhere they want around the world. Also, the mixed tag team will earn the number 30 spot in the men and women’s royal rumble match in January.

Results from last week’s WWE MMC

As always, there were two matches on this week’s episode, one from Raw and the other from Smackdown. The contest from WWE Raw was also going to be a solid one. Two of the undefeated teams went up against each other, here too. Team Country Dominance (Mickie James-Bobby Lashley) took on against Team Monster Eclipse (Braun Strowman-Ember Moon). So it was certain that one of the teams would suffer their first loss in Mixed Match Challenge.

Mickie James and Ember Moon started the competition with some back and forth going before the men received the tags. Lashley and Braun Strowman showed their powers before Lio Rush interfered in the match. This distracted Strowman but he sent Ember right into the Cruiserweight ensuring the neutralization.

Mickie smelt danger and launched herself off the apron onto The Shenom at the ringside floor. Braun Strowman got down from the ring and chased down Lio Rush. In the middle of the run, he knocked out Bobby Lashley. Moon got the tag from the Monster among Men and hit the Eclipse on Mickie to continue their winning streak at Mixed Match challenge.

The blue brand gathered the two most dominant teams head to head into the competition. Team Fenomenal Flair (AJ Styles-Charlotte Flair) vs. Team Awe-ska (The Miz-Asuka) was the lineup. But there was a slight change in the lineup as AJ Styles was unable to compete in this week’s Mixed Match Challenge. He just lost the WWE Championship prior to the show and so Jeff Hardy replaced him.

Well, this did not stop Charlotte and Jeff Hardy from handing over the first loss to Team Awe-ska. Charlotte and Asuka started the match renewing their Wrestlemania rivalry. Charlotte swatted away The Miz from the ringside that came as a distraction. Asuka locked in a submission move on Charlotte. The Miz and Jeff Hardy joined them inside the ring creating a brawl.

The Miz and Asuka started hitting double IT kicks to take control of the Mixed Match Challenge. But over-confidence went heavy for Team Awe-ska as they suffered their first loss in the following way, (courtesy WWE.com)

“The A-Lister got too cocky for his own good and tried to show Asuka “how it’s done,” and Hardy made him pay for it with a Twist of Fate. Flair seized the moment, hitting Asuka with a Spear before locking her in the Figure-Eight Leglock and making her tap!”
