Adam Gilchrist, on Monday, caught up with India skipper Virat Kohli. The batting star is currently in Australia along with the team for the upcoming full-fledged series. And just like others, Gilchrist was also blown away by Kohli’s personality.
The legendary wicketkeeper-batsman took to Instagram to share a picture of the meeting and also heaped praise on Kohli, writing:
“Had a little sit down with this legend today. Thoughtful, insightful, awesome self belief and simply a pleasure to spend time with. Thanks @virat.kohli I owe you dinner!”
Meanwhile, India and Australia will compete in three T20Is, four Tests and three ODIs. The series will start off with the shortest format, with the first T20I to be played at The Gabba on November 21, 2018.
After the three-match T20I series, the two teams will compete in a four-Test series.
Adelaide opens the Test summer in Australia on December 6 in a blockbuster Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. The Perth Stadium will host its first Test match when India visit for the second Border-Gavaskar match, before the series moves back to Melbourne and Sydney for the traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s games respectively.
Following the Tests, there will be three ODIs. Sydney Cricket Ground will host the first ODI on January 12. The long tour will conclude with the third ODI at MCG on January 18.
India will be looking to put up a good show in Australia after losing Test series in England and South Africa this year.
Before leaving for Australia, Virat Kohli had asked his teammates to step up and “show more character”.
“We understand within the group what we need to work on. It’s upto the individuals to take ownership of that responsibility and the things that are explained, that are laid out as expectations from team culture point of view,” Kohli had said.
“There were a lot of things we sat down and discussed after England, [about] what went wrong. To be honest, we all felt there was not much that went wrong. Whatever was not right was very extreme also. We played good cricket, but the mistakes were also very extreme, that’s why we lost that many number of games rather than wining those moments and winning the games.
“Individuals need to take more responsibility, show more character in such situations and assess it, and then find a solution rather than thinking that the solution will appear from somewhere. Those are the things we are really keen on, going now in our next venture and especially in Test cricket,” he had added.
