Leicester city’s campaign this season has attracted admiration from everyone and joining that list of admirers is former Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson who has compared the team with his European cup Winners Cup winning team Aberdeen.
Leicester currently sits at the top of the Premier League table and seem to be invincible. Certainly they have caught everyone’s eye and as no one escapes the attention of a certain Ferguson, Leicester City and its stars have earned praise from the Scottish manager. Heaping praise on Vardy and Mahrez, Fergie pointed out the bitter truth that entails a dream performance like that of Leicester City. “When Aberdeen won the European Cup Winners’ Cup [under Ferguson], it was the greatest moment for Aberdeen in their history and it was the worst moment too. Five players left within a year; Gordon Strachan went to Manchester United, Mark McGhee went to Hamburg” Ferguson told reporters at the TechCrunch Disrupt event in London.
Calling Vardy as a great example of a modern day phenomena and a story which inspires one and all Ferguson rightly said that the players will soon be picked by big teams where the grass is greener than Leicester City, “It is natural, it is progress Leicester may have a situation where some players love being there and don’t want to move and they will have some who do want to move to Manchester United or Liverpool or Real Madrid” added the retired boss.
From No 14 last season to table-toppers this season, Leicester City’s story is what we call champions stuff and makes us believe that David can actually defeat Goliath in reality!
