2016 ICC World T20 trophy will start the global journey from 13th December 2015 and will reach India on 1st February 2016.
As part of the Nissan Trophy Tour, the trophy will visit 12 countries including India. The trophy will be displayed at domestic and international matches as well as at various public places.
ICC Chief Executive David Richardson made a statement, “The Nissan Trophy Tour has been designed to not only promote the tournament but also to engage with our fans and provide them the first opportunity to get close to the trophy, which will be lifted by the winning captain on 3 April in Mumbai. We would like to thank Nissan for their sponsorship of the Trophy Tour and we are sure it will be a big success as it travels across the world ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 in India next year.”
Scotland is scheduled to be the first country of this tour. After that, it will travel to Ireland, England and Netherlands as part of European leg which is scheduled from 13th December to 23rd December.
Then it will come to sub-continent where it will cover Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka from 11th January to 18th January, before it travel to Trans-Tasman tour between 21st and 31st January. Then it will be in New Delhi on 1st February, from where it will travel various India cities.
From 2nd to 7th January, the trophy is scheduled to travel in Africa (Zimbabwe and South Africa).
Surprisingly, Caribbean tour has been omitted from the trophy tour.
2016 ICC World T20 will be held in India between 8th March and 3rd April. Total 16 teams will take participate in this competition. Also, ICC Women’s World T20 2016 will run with this men’s tournament.
