Mourinho tried hard but failed with four consecutive bids to bring during the summer-long transfer tug of war, but he still thinks the youngster could be lured away from Everton. The young central defender is also targeted by Manchester United and Arsenal.

According to Express Sports  Mourinho has the support of club owner Roman Abramovich who also agrees that Stones could be a huge part in getting the Blues out of the Premier League hole that they are currently in.

The under-fire Portuguese manager believes that yet another bid in January might tempt the player himself to pressure Everton to give him the clearance to move.
However, Stones still has three-and-a-half years left on his current deal and the rumours of Chelsea are back in for his star player will be something that Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been dreading for sure.

Everton are desperate to snatch a Champions League slot, it means there will be a tag of war again over the Englishman between the clubs but in a more condensed January window time frame.

It is suggested that Chelsea might eventually up their offer to £45m, but the key to any possible transfer in winter or in the summer could depend on what the player himself decides.

Manchester United also watched the Englishman very closely this season and were rumoured to be placing a bid of around £35million, but Everton are not willing to go their promising centre back cheaply. Reports say they tagged the price for Stones in excess of £45million.

On the other hand, Wenger has been looking for younger options to strengthen the central defensive positions. The Frenchman’s current first choices are 31-year-old Per Mertesacker and 30-year-old Laurent Koscielny, so age a factor obviously.

In 2013, John Stones joined Everton leaving Barnsley for a bargain £3m and after 2 years he has now become an automatic first choice at Goodison Park.

The promising central defender has also played seven matches for England and seems to be a confirmed member of the squad which England manager Roy Hodgson chooses for the European Championship finals in France next year.
