Manchester United Captain Wayne Rooney could be back in action against Norwich City this weekend.

The goal-shy England striker has remained out of action since he sustained an injury against Leicester last month and since then nursing an ankle injury as Manchester United tried to continue without him.

He hasn’t played the fixtures against West Ham, Wolfsburg and Bournemouth and Louis van Gaal’s squad have been searching for a win since Rooney was taken off in the 68th minute at the King Power Stadium.

However, reports from Manchester Evening News now suggest Rooney is moving quite freely without any problem and could return to action when Manchester United welcomes Norwich City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Despite Rooney being not able to set the house on fire with his performances this season before the latest injury, the Red Devils are said to feel a lot better with their captain in the starting eleven when Alex Neil’s Norwich come to town.

van Gaal’s  men seems to have run out of ideas this season. The lack of creativity might be startling for United fans. This is not the football Old Trafford deserves and it really frustrates the fans also.
United boss would be happy to welcome the veteran striker back into the squad as he is desperate to get his boys back on track following a disappointing run of matches and will look to end the year on a strong note.

The Red Devils have been suffering from a series of injuries and van Gaal had no other choice but to field youngsters in the last 2-3 weeks to fill the gaps in his squad.

United captain Rooney has managed to score only seven goals in this campaign, but has only netted twice in the Premier League. However, the latest injury absence may become a blessing in disguise for him, whose recent form and lack of goals this season has led to severe criticisms over whether he even has a place in this Manchester United squad or not. This season till now, van Gaal has surprisingly continued with the 30-year-old as his main striker. Who knows, an enforced break might have helped him to get back his goal scoring habits.
