Well, finally, a low scoring thriller makes its way in the tournament (BBL 2018-19). However, that wasn’t the nerve-breaking victory, as Sydney Sixers won comfortably by 33 runs. Melbourne Renegades were thumped down in their own venue while chasing a below-par total on the board. Tom Curran was the star once again for Sydney.

Initially, it was Melbourne Renegades, who won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. Justifying the toss decision, Sydney bowlers rattled three quick wickets to see scorecard read 25/3 at the end of powerplay overs.

However, Sydney got runs from their middle-order compartment. Though none of them was successful in converting those starts, 4 batsmen in the middle combined to give much needed 93 runs to the total.

For Melbourne Renegades, it was Kane Richardson, who picked up 3 wickets while Jack Wildermuth picked a couple of wickets. Mohammad Nabi and Usman Khan Shenwaru picked apiece to name themselves on the wicket-taker-chart.

Tom Curran and Co seal the deal:

In reply, Renegades got a decent start by the openers, who added 32 runs. However, Tim Ludeman yet again disappointed while Cameron White and Tom Cooper failed to replicate their last year performance.

Apart from the opener, Harvey, none of the batsmen crossed 20-run mark, which tells you the story of Melbourne batting. Tom Curran was the wrecker-in-chief with 3 wickets while Manenti, Steve O’Keefe and Sean Abbott picked a couple.
