Mohammad Amir is set to make a comeback in the Pakistan squad after five years later in the upcoming limited-over series in the New Zealand tour. Also, another two key pacers Umar Gul and Junaid khan are set to comeback in the national squad for this series. Umar Gul and Junaid Khan have been out from the national squad since April and June respectively due to injury.

A source said PTI, “There is every likelihood that Amir, Junaid and Umar could be in the ODI and T20 squads when they are announced next week for the tour to New Zealand.”

According to a source, a new face may be included in the limited-over squad. 24-years left-arm pacer Rumman Raees may be the new man though he has unfortunately fallen ill.

The source said, “Another uncapped southpaw pacer Rumman Raees is also in serious consideration, but he, unfortunately, has fallen ill and could not attend the fitness tests held so far. If Rumman gets well soon and passes the fitness test he is also under consideration for the T20 series.”

Chief selector of the national team Haroon Rasheed told the PTI that the squad is not confirmed yet. But he also said, “But yes we have been impressed with the form of Amir, Gul and Junaid and Rumman is a good prospect.”

Haroon was asked whether the board had given clearance for the selection of tainted Mohammad Amir for the upcoming New Zealand tour. Haroon replied that the left-arm pacer was invited along with 25 other players to the camp after getting clearance from the board.

Haroon added further, “But as far as his visa issues for New Zealand are concerned I am not aware of that as it is something the board is handling. For our part, we will only announce the squads after the chairman has approved them.”

The squad will be announced very soon for the New Zealand tour, where Pakistan will play 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs between 15th January 2016 and 31st January 2016.
