Former Australian National Cricket Team cricketer Dean Jones has hailed the efforts of Team India skipper Virat Kohli. Jones believes Kohli will be known as the greatest One-day International player ever following his juggernaut. However, he did not shy away from saying he has all the regards for legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

“He [Virat Kohli] is such a magnificent player and I get the feeling, with all due respect to Sachin Tendulkar, that he will be known as the greatest One-day player of all time,” Times of India quoted Jones as saying.

The cricketer-turned-commentator Jones, who has also enjoyed the coaching stints in the distinct franchise leagues. He effusively praised the remarkable efforts of 30-year-old batting star Kohli owing to his sheer consistency and knack of scoring runs at his will.

Recently, in the second ODI of the three-match series, Kohli slammed his 39th ODI hundred. Kohli scored 104 off 112 balls when India was chasing the target of 299. It further saw the Men in Blue clinching the game by six wickets following brilliant unbeaten 55 from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The 57-year-old former Aussie top-order batsman Jones reiterated Kohli’s 32 tons saw India winning the games which according to him makes the world-class batsman a tough nut to crack.

Most centuries in winning cause:

Before levelling the series 1-1, Kohli went on to record five ODI hundreds in Australia. Eventually, it saw him being at par with his current teammate Rohit Sharma. Moreover, veteran Sri Lanka Cricket Team’s Kumar Sangakkara is also tied up on the coveted list.

“I’ve noticed now that 32 of Virat Kohli’s 39 hundreds in One-day cricket have come in a winning cause,” Jones said.

For Australia, Jones featured in 164 ODIs to amass 6068 runs at the average of 44.61. He registered seven hundreds and 46 half-centuries. In addition, Jones maintained Kohli tops the chart among visiting batsman to smash most tons across formats.

“He now has 11 international hundreds in Australia, the most in all formats by visiting batsmen,” J0nes maintained.

As of now, Kohli and co are looking forward to wrapping the ODI series 2-1 on Friday. In the ongoing game, Australia has set up the target of 231 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
