Becky Lynch won the Royal Rumble event on January 27th. She chose her opponent right away on the very next night on Monday Night Raw. Becky Lynch attacked Stephanie on WWE Raw
For now, this match remains a one-on-one bout where Becky Lynch challenges Ronda Rousey over the Raw women’s title. But the rumor mill is speculating a potential change in this match. Charlotte Flair might also get involved in this match making it a triple threat match. This is one of the WWE’s nags of favoring the Queen almost every time.
This is where the fans might just get angry. Becky Lynch earned her rights to face the baddest woman on the planet winning the Royal Rumble. She deserves a singles contest against Ronda Rousey since it did not happen before. Charlotte Flair already had her opportunity at Survivor Series 2018 against the reigning champion.
Despite the fan backlash over the match lineup change, WWE might just go forward with the triple threat. No matter what Charlotte Flair will be competing at Wrestlemania main event. The creative team has their own reasons for it. This is the first time that women superstars will be going last in a Wrestlemania match card making it a historic occasion.
WWE officials want Charlotte Flair to get the same spotlight as Becky Lynch. Dave Meltzer revealed the same on Wrestling Observer Radio. Apparently, the match has a historic significance to which Charlotte Flair is a synonymous name. So they want her to get the publicity that comes along with the first women’s main event at WrestleMania.
Here’s more from the source, (via stillrealtous.com)
“The three-way is part of WWE’s long term planning for the future, and the company wants to add Charlotte because of the historical importance of the match. It’s not clear at this point how Charlotte will be added to the match, but it’s been speculated that she could end up defeating Becky at an upcoming pay-per-view before WrestleMania.”
It points out the fact that Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch will go one-on-one in another pay-per-view event with a Wrestlemania match hanging in the balance. It is most likely to happen at the Fastlane event to take place in March. This is the final show prior to the biggest event of the year which will set up the final Wrestlemania matchups.
