After a hammering 4-1 home ODI series defeat against India, New Zealand is looking for a fresh start in the home ODI series against Bangladesh. It will be a three-match ODI series between the fourth-ranked ODI team New Zealand and seventh-ranked ODI team Bangladesh. The host side is keen to maintain their 100% home winning record against Bangladesh as New Zealand won all the previous ten ODIs against Bangladesh in New Zealand.

Colin Munro has been dropped from the first two ODIs. However, he will replace Kane Williamson for the final game of the ODI series.

Martin Guptill has returned to the national squad, who missed out the late stages during India tour of New Zealand. The Kiwi opener missed the last ODI and the subsequent three-match T20I series against India after facing an injury during the practice session. Though Martin Guptill has returned to the national squad, he still has to pass the fitness test.

On the other hand, Mitchell Santner and Todd Astle will take the spin-bowling charge during the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Once again the leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is going to miss the ODI squad, while Todd Astle replaced him in the last two ODIs during the recent home series against India.
