The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member Indian Women‘s squad for the upcoming home T20I series against England Women. While Smriti Mandhana will lead the side in the absence of Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurthy has returned to the national team.
After the completion of the ongoing three-match ODI series, both teams will play the three-match T20I series. While the ODI series will end on 28th February, they will play the T20I series from 4th March to 9th March. All the T20I matches will be played at Barsapara Stadium (Guwahati) on 4, 7 and 9 March. In the ongoing ODI series, India Women are leading by 2-0 after the end of the second ODI.
The Indian Women’s T20I captain Harmanpreet Kaur is still recovering from her ankle injury. At present, she is busy at NCA for rehabilitation. Meanwhile, the young opener Smriti Mandhana will lead the side in the upcoming T20I series.

On the other hand, Veda Krishnamurthy has returned to the national squad for the upcoming T20I series. Last time she featured for the national team in the 2018 Women’s World T20 semi-final against England Women. In the entire 2018 WWT20, the middle-order batter failed to reach the double-digit knocks.

New faces in the T20I squad
Also, Komal Zanzad, Bharti Fulmali and Harleen Deol are in the T20I squad. Meanwhile, the selectors dropped Dayalan Hemalatha, Mansi Joshi and Priya Punia from the T20I team. While Harleen Deol just made her ODI debut in the first ODI of the ongoing home series, Komal Zanzad and Bharti Fulmali haven’t made their international debuts yet. The 20-year-old Harleen Deol is still waiting for her T20I debut.
