In a veteran wicketkeeper-batsman like MS Dhoni has been a lucky charm for India over the years, despite the occasional blips, Dhoni has moved up the swaying ladder by producing spectacular results. From finishing off things in style, Dhoni has done an exceptional job while donning the gloves apart from giving valid inputs to his successor Virat Kohli. Thus, legendary batsman, Sunil Gavaskar supports the idea that Dhoni has contributed thoroughly for the Men in Blue.

Exceptional at his skills, Dhoni has helped Kohli in placing the fielder. Also, Dhoni has guided the youngsters which reaped the rewards for the unit. While highlighting the importance of Ranchi star, Gavaskar reiterated behind the stumps Mahi would be crucial for India in the upcoming 2019 World Cup.

It has been evident whenever Kohli stationed himself at the boundary ropes, Mahi has been seen marshalling the troops at the behest.

“I think the best thing for Virat Kohli is that he is got MS Dhoni as a keeper. You can see whenever he is in the deep, MS Dhoni helps him with the field, talks to the bowlers in crucial situations. Your best fielder should be at the deep during the death overs. That’s where MSD comes into play, telling the bowlers what to do,” Gavaskar told during India Today Conclave 2019.

Over the years, Dhoni’s service to India has been priceless. He has played an archetypal role t0 lead India from the front whenever the team was in dire straits. Particularly, Dhoni bossed the One-day International format by scoring well over the average of 50.

More often, MSD’s experienced has augured well for the Indian National Cricket Team which eventually paid rich dividends with his presence of mind on the field. During his reign, he sealed three ICC titles including the 2013 Champions Trophy since 2007 Twenty20 World Cup win over arch-rivals Pakistan at Wanderers in Johannesburg.

The Mumbaikar maintained Dhoni and Kohli share a great bound which will eventually help India in the United Kingdom (UK). The ODI showpiece will kick off on May 30 in London.

“Appreciate the chemistry between both. Both of them share a lot of respect. Their chemistry is going to help us at the World Cup,” Gavaskar added.

The 37-year-old MSD, who has struggled, of late and when many wrote him off, he returned with a bang. Recently, in Australia, he slammed three consecutive half-centuries. Also, his contribution has won India historic bilateral ODI series over Australia in Australia 2-1.
