ii) Australian captain Aaron Finch got out on a duck in this ODI.

  • Aaron Finch became the sixth Australian ODI captain to score a duck against India. Alan Border, Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh, Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting were the other Australian ODI captains with one duck each against India.

i) Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan got out on a golden duck in this match.

  • Shikhar Dhawan is the second Indian opening batsman to score a golden duck against Australia at home ODI. Virender Sehwag was the first Indian opening batsman to achieve this feat, and he did that for only once. It was the Mumbai ODI on 1 November 2003. 
  • It was the fourth time when an Indian opening batsman got out on a golden duck in an ODI against Australia. After Kris Srikkanth and Virender Sehwag achieved this feat, Shikhar Dhawan has done it twice, including this ODI.

MS Dhoni-Kedar Jadhav partnership

i) Indian batsmen MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav provided an unbroken 141-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

  • It was the second highest fifth-wicket partnership in the second innings of an ODI match in India. The record is a 200-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav (India) against England at Pune on 15 January 2017. 
  • It was the second highest fifth-wicket ODI partnership for India against Australia. The record is a 167-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni at Bengaluru on 2 November 2013.
