The Indian skipper Virat Kohli has made the habit to break the incredible records in world cricket. On Tuesday (5 March), he once again created history in international cricket.
India and Australia met in the second ODI of the five-match ODI series on Tuesday at Nagpur. After winning the toss, Australia sent the host side to bat first. The no.3 batsman Virat Kohli came to bat at early after the opener Rohit Sharma scored a duck by getting out in the first over of the match.
In the pressure situation, Virat Kohli played a crucial knock to support the host side. After completing his half-century in 55 balls, the Indian skipper stretched his innings to the century which he reached on 107 balls. Before losing his wicket, Virat Kohli scored 116 runs off 120 balls along with ten boundaries.
Virat Kohli completed 9,000 international runs as captain
During that innings, Virat Kohli completed his 9,000 runs in international cricket as captain. In this ODI, he needed to score 22 runs to achieve that feat, and he comfortably achieved that. Playing his 159th international innings as captain, Virat Kohli completed his 9,000 runs and has scored 9,094 runs till this ODI.
Virat Kohli is the sixth cricketer to score 9,000 runs in international cricket as captain. After MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli is the only second Indian captain to achieve this feat.
However, Virat Kohli also added more glory in this achievement. The 30-year-old right-handed batsman becomes the fastest to achieve this feat. While he has achieved this feat in 159 innings, no other captain has even completed 7,000 international runs in that number of innings. Ricky Ponting is in the next position who had completed 9,000 international runs as captain in 203 innings.

India was bowled out for 250 runs
Coming to the match, the host side India lost their wickets at regular intervals. Apart from Virat Kohli (116) and Vijay Shankar (46), no other Indian batsmen crossed the 25-run mark. Shikhar Dhawan and Ravindra Jadeja were the only two other batsmen to reach the 20-run mark in that innings as both scored 21 runs. India managed to score 250 runs in 48.2 overs before losing their all wickets.
Australian pacer Pat Cummins bowled brilliantly in that innings as he had the bowling figures of 9-2-29-4. Also, the leg-spinner Adam Zampa (2/62) picked up two wickets while Nathan Coulter-Nile (1/52), Glenn Maxwell (1/45) and Nathan Lyon (1/42) took one wicket each in that innings.
