Following the announcement of 2019 BCCI contract list for players, it has subsequently irked many for witnessing the names of Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw are missing following a quality show in the recent past for Team India.

However, there’s a strong reason behind Agarwal and Shaw missing the contract released on March 7 (Thursday).

In 2018, 26 players signed a contract. It further saw as many as 25 cricketers bagging the deal in 2019.

Following a spectacular show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Delhi Capitals, Shaw made his Test debut against the Windies in 2018.

On the other side, Agarwal has put up a remarkable show in the domestic fold by scoring runs at will. The exciting top-order batsman further delivered goods on Australia soil by smashing a fifty on his Test debut.

The pertinent question is why they’ve had missed out for a BCCI contract.

The criterion for the BCCI’s contract is that the player has to play at least three Tests or eight One-day Internationals to bag a grade. On the other side, Vijay Shankar hasn’t met the set standard of the world-richest Board yet. So far, he has featured in seven ODIs for the Men in Blue.

Owing to a spectacular show in the domestic fold and top-flight cricket, it will take some time for Agarwal and Shaw to fetch massive contracts under the tutelage of BCCI.

Regarding the amount, the A-plus category earns seven Crore followed by five Crore and three Crore. The category C has as many as seven players including Khaleel Ahmed. They will receive the amount of INR one Crore under a certain period.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli is at the helm of affairs. Kohli’s limited-overs deputy Rohit Sharma is second on the elite list. The prominent paceman Jasprit Bumrah is also listed in the premium category.

Apart from Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got demoted to A category set up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Dhawan and  Bhuvneshwar have missed out the A-plus category following a mixed show in the top-flight cricket.

The trio is named in the A-plus contract list as contracted players were divided into four different groups.

Next in line is A contracted player it includes as many as ten players including former skipper Mahindra Singh Dhoni.

However, exciting young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has earned the reward of Grade A category for his spectacular show across all formats. Also, Suresh Raina and Murali Vijay missed out on a grade-based contract.

A+: Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma

A: Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Ajinkya Rahane, Kuldeep Yadav, B: KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal.

C: Dinesh Karthik, Wriddhiman Saha, Kedar Jadhav, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Hanuma Vihari and Khaleel Ahmed.
