For past few weeks, a lot has been said about the workload management of the Word Cup-bound Indian pacers who will be playing in the Indian Premier League.

While some feel that the workload of the bowlers should be managed properly and they should skip games, some feel that a pacer should play the full tournament.

There were reports that BCCI had a talk with franchises over the issue but that wasn’t the case. India’s chief selector also commented on the matter and said that the tournament will help the Indian team.

COA chief Vinod Rai has also commented on the matter for the first time and as per him, the board will have a talk with franchises.

“The BCCI (as a team) is keeping a watch on the matter and will speak to the franchises at the right time. We have a team, which is keeping track of this,” he said.

It clearly means that BCCI might ask a bowler to skip few matches if the need arises.

Last year, there were reports that Indian skipper Virat Kohli had even mooted the idea to rest pacers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah for the tournament.

Rohit Sharma had rejected the idea, the reports had suggested then. At last, it is final that the pacers will be in the playing XI but it is not sure whether they will play the full tournament.

BCCI Will Speak To Franchises At The Right Time, Confirms Vinod Rai On Workload Management Ahead Of World Cup 2019 1

Recently, World Cup-bound pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, also the vice-captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, had hinted that the pacers might be rest later in IPL.

Last year, he had missed a few games due to the back issue. The trouble followed him in England as well where Bhuvneshwar had missed the five-match Test series.

That cost him his place in playing XI as Bhuvenshwar wasn’t included in any of the Tests in Australia. He is yet to play a Test match since January 2018.

The focus will also be on pacers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Both the pacers are confirmed to be part of World Cup 2019.

Umesh Yadav, Siddarth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed are also part of World Cup and one of them will be part of Indian team. Hence, their workloads might also be managed during the tournament.

IPL 2019 starts on March 23 while World Cup will kick off on May 30. India play their first World Cup match on June 5 against South Africa.
