Social media platform twitter slammed Mel McLaughlin for her ‘double standard’.
During a post-match segment in the Big Bash League on Monday, the Channel 10 journalist Mel called Mark Waugh by Damien Fleming’s name. Later, she apologized and made a joke with Mark Waugh by saying, ‘I’ll buy you a drink’. All of these incidents happened on the air.
Here is the video:
Earlier, Melbourne Renegades player Chris Gayle offered Mel to buy a drink and said: “don’t blush baby”. His comments were remarked as ‘inappropriate’ and ‘sexist’ and he has been fined $10,000.
Incidentally, Mel commented that to Mark Waugh after the Chris Gayle match where he equalled the fastest fifty in the T20 history.
For this “double standard” behaviour, people slammed Mel on twitter.

those accusing Mel McLaughlin of double standards pretty much lack the mental power to assess a situation and make an informed decision.

Mark Waugh shouldn’t have to put up with being propositioned for a drink at work by Mel McLaughlin. Unacceptable. #dontblushjunior #BBL
