On Tuesday (9th April) night, the host side Chennai Super Kings (CSK) claimed an easy victory against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai).

CSK captain MS Dhoni decided to field first after winning the toss. With the help of Andre Russell’s fighting innings of unbeaten 50 runs (44 balls), the visiting side managed to score 108/9 (20 overs). In reply, the home team comfortably chased that target in 17.2 overs after losing three wickets.

  • It is the second best bowling figures by an Indian pacer for CSK against KKR. The record holder is Ashish Nehra with the bowling figures of 4-0-21-4 at Hyderabad on 17th September 2014.

 

ii) In his four overs quota, Deepak Chahar delivered 20 dot balls.

  • It is the most number of dot balls for any bowler in an IPL innings. The previous record was 19 dot balls. Ashish Nehra and Munaf Patel both had once delivered 19 dot balls in an IPL innings.

i) During this match, Andre Russell scored his 7th half-century for KKR.

  • It is the joint second most number of 50+ scores by an overseas batsman for KKR. Chris Lynn has also scored 7 half-centuries for KKR. The former KKR cricketer Jacques Kallis is leading this list with 10 half-centuries for this side.
