Papy Djilobodji has been loaned out to Werder Bremen by Chelsea, and the Senegalese international spoke about his tough spell at Chelsea. He also spoke of his wish to kick-start his career in Germany. He also spoke of ineptness to understand why he was ignored by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who signed the defender in last summer.

Djilobodji started his career with Senart-Moissy, a French minnow, before moving to Nantes in 2010 and since been in the limelight, all credits to a string of impressive performances. Jose Mourinho who was looking for options to bolster his defence signed him to a four-year contract, for a fee reported to be around 3 million pounds.

However, his life at West London did not start as he expected as he was omitted from the 25-man squad for Champions League. His only appearance in Chelsea colour came in Capital One Cup against Walsall.

He now admits he does not have any idea why his short spell at Chelsea was his worst.

“Really, I do not know. I gave everything”, the 27-year-old spoke to Bild. “But the coaches have decided it. For me, it is also an incentive to continue to work.

On January 21, the defender was loaned out to Werder Bremen, who are currently lingering just three places above the bottom in Bundesliga. He also voiced his belief in the german team, which he believes has the potential to avoid relegation.

“The team is very good. And also, all the people around the club are great. There is no reason why we will not play in the Bundesliga next season.”

Djilobodji debuted for the German club on 24th January, and the team beat FC Schalke comfortably, with him getting applauds for his performance.
