Shakhtar Donetsk seem to be in no mood to sell their prized asset Alex Teixeira as the club have now rejected the 3rd Liverpool bid in a row. The Reds had already seen two bids of £25m and £28m turned down by the Ukrainian giants and according to reports they have now failed with another approach.
The Daily Star also report that the bid has been rejected and it is understood that Liverpool offered a fee in the region of £31m but have been left disappointed once again.
Jurgen Klopp and co have been interested in Brazilian striker Teixeira for quite some time now but a January deal for him is looking increasingly unlikely with Shakhtar refusing to let him go for under their £38m valuation. Less than a week remains for the transfer window to shut and unless Liverpool doesn’t pay up, this deal looks impossible. Perhaps Shakhtar do not want a repeat of the Douglas Costa transfer whom they feel was sold for £24m which is pretty cheap considering his performances this season for Bayern.
Alex Texeira has been scoring goals for fun this season as he has already netted 26 times this season in the same number of games and he is certainly doing all he can to get a move to Liverpool.
Speaking to Anfield HQ World, he said: “It would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt.
“Yes, it’s correct I want to go there, it’s a huge club and so many great players have passed through there.
“But there has only been one offer of 32m Euros and Shakhtar rejected it. It is frustrating but the manager and club president decided against it so now I am just waiting, trying to be patient.
“I know my agent is still attempting everything possible to help me get to Liverpool. The team received one official offer. It was rejected but I don’t know why because it was a great offer.”
Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu has made it clear that he wouldn’t be keeping the Brasilian against his wishes but Donetsk would demand a huge fee for him.
“Our president knows when it is the time for Teixeira to go. I don’t want to keep a player against his desire. He wants to play in a big championship. He’s worth €50m [£38m]. He’s incredible, very fast, very good technique. I compare him with other players of the same age who changed [the fortunes of] a club, Di Maria for example at Paris St-Germain. Teixeira can be at the same level, better even. He doesn’t get injured, and every year he gets better and better.”
