Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has leapfrogged the record of former Deccan Chargers keeper Kumar Sangakkara. Pant after taking two catches of Henrich Klaasen and Gurkeerat Singh Mann became the wicketkeeper with the most number of dismissals in the season.
Pant has now completed 20 dismissals in the ongoing Indian Premier League, out of which 15 are catches whereas five are stumpings in the 12 matches he has played. On the other hand, Kumar Sangakkara had gulped 19 dismissals in the 2011 IPL season while playing for the Deccan Chargers.
Pant has been impressive.
The former Sri Lankan skipper had taken 17 catches and had affected two stumpings in the 13 matches he had played for the Deccan Chargers.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has shown improvement in his wicketkeeping skills. In fact, the chief selector MSK Prasad had said that Pant has missed on the World Cup squad for his wicketkeeping skills. However, Pant could not get into the World Cup squad because of the lack of experience in the white ball format.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant has impressed with his pyrotechnics. The southpaw batsman likes to hit the ground running from the get-go and there are no double thoughts in his batting. If the ball is there to be hit, Pant doesn’t hesitate in swinging his arms.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has scored 343 runs in the ongoing season for the Delhi Capitals. He has scored two fifties and had played a fine knock in the match against Rajasthan Royals to help his team get over the finishing line.
Furthermore, Delhi Capitals have qualified for the playoff stages after 2012. The Delhi team has come up with collective team performance and they have ticked the right boxes as the team. Shreyas Iyer has also led with aplomb and the bowling battery has done a fine job.
