A rare incident happened on Wednesday in the 2016 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. A Sri Lankan spinner Kamindu Mendis bowled with both right and left arm off-spin (not at the sam time, obviously) in the match.

A bowler who can bowl with his both hands is called “Ambidextrous” bowler. It is a rare talent in cricket history. It came under lime-light in the international cricket during 1996 World Cup when Sri Lankan bowler Hashan Tillakaratne bowled with his both right and left arm against Kenya.

On Wednesday in 2016 U19 World Cup, Kamindu Mendis bowled with both arms against Pakistan U19 in his very first over. It was the 27th over when he came to bowl his first over of the innings.

Mendis bowled first four balls to the right-handed batsmen Umair Masood and Hasan Mohsin. After Umair was run-out in the 4th ball of that over, left-handed batsman Salman Fayyaz came to striker-end. That was the reason Mendis changed his bowling arm from left to right after consulting with the on-field umpires. He bowled last two balls with his right-hand to the left-handed batsman Salman Fayyaz.
