Delhi Capitals fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is making the headlines for good reasons in the ongoing Indian Premier League. He is so far the highest wicket-taker in the tournament and has been vital to Delhi’ success in this season. Recently, the South African fast bowler shared high praise for his Delhi teammate Rishabh Pant who failed to make it into the 15-member squad for the World Cup.
Pant took rapid strides in the last edition of the IPL scoring 684 runs from 14 games at an average of over 50. He also scored five fifties and one century made way for his ODI debut although he has failed to make a mark so far. The southpaw has been in good form in the ongoing season although he lacked consistency. Rishabh Pant has scored 348 runs from 13 games and has played a crucial role in Delhi’s middle order.

Pant is an incredible batsman
His recently World Cup snub created an uproar in the country, and former cricketers slammed the selectors for preferring Dinesh Karthik over the young cricketer. Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar was most vocal about his exclusion while many others praised Pant’s ability to be in that squad. The latest to join the bandwagon is his Delhi Capitals teammate Kagiso Rabada. The paceman hailed Pant saying that he is an outstanding batsman and can win games single-handedly.
Rabada also added that one needs to be in his top when bowling against a player of Rishabh Pant’s calibre. Kagiso Rabada was also of the opinion that Rishabh Pant should have been a part of the World Cup squad.
“Pant is an incredible player. He has the ability to win a game single-handedly. I wouldn’t say that I’m glad he is not coming to the World Cup, there are players like that in each team. Everyone’s work is cut out. When you play against Pant you have to be on your A Game. I thought he would’ve been in the Indian squad,” Pant said to TOI.
Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada missed Delhi Capitals last encounter with a slight niggle. Cricket South Africa is closely monitoring his injury and will take a call on his further participation in the tournament ahead of the World Cup.
