Unstoppable Bangladesh U19 reached semi-final for the first time in U19 CWC. They beat Nepal U19 quite comfortably by 6 wickets with 10 balls to spare at 2016 U19 CWC Quarter-Final.
After winning the toss, Nepal U19 decided to bat first at Dhaka. With controversial Nepal skipper Raju Rijal’s 72 run knock and some fighting knocks from the other batsmen, Nepal U19 put a fighting 211 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs. Most of Bangladeshi bowlers bowled with discipline while Mohammad Saifuddin picked up 2 wickets.
In reply, the hosts started slowly to chase down the total but regular wickets kept falling, hence the pressure was on them at the beginning. At 28.1 overs, Bangladesh colts were under pressure as they were 98/4.
But then, Zakir Hasan and Mehedi Hasan Miraz’s unbeaten 117 run partnership gave Bangladesh the grip in the match. Wicketkeeper-batsman Zakir Hasan remained unbeaten at 75 runs while skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz remained not-out at 55 runs. Bangladesh reached that target in 48.2 overs with 6 wickets in hands. Nepal bowler Sunil Dhamala picked up 2 wickets.
Skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz was selected man of the match, as he also picked up 1 wicket along with unbeaten 55 runs knock. Bangladesh U19 reached semi-final for the first time in the U19 World Cup.
On the other hand, Nepal U19 will now compete for the 5th place play-off semi-final.
