Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik took a sensational catch during KKR’s final group game against Mumbai Indians but his catch was not enough to hand KKR the much-needed victory which would have helped them go through to the playoffs. Wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock after playing a match-winning innings was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna.
As the southpaw attempted to hit another delivery out of the park, the southpaw mistimed the ball completely and top-edged it straight up in the air. Dinesh Karthik who swirled for the ball eventually completed a sensational take which will surely be one of the best takes of the India international who will be on the flight to England for the 2019 World Cup.
It was Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma who won the toss and opted to field. Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a good start as Chris Lynn looked found the boundaries on a consistent basis in the powerplay. After a 49 runs partnership, it was Hardik Pandya who bagged the crucial wickets of Shubhman Gill and Chris Lynn which out KKR on the backfoot.

From there on it was a horrendous effort by the Kolkata Knight Riders batters and yet again it was Robin Uthappa who was at the firing line. He scored 40 but it came in 47 deliveries which proved to be a decisive moment in the game. KKR eventually finished with a score of 133/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Mumbai Indians was in the driver’s seat from the very beginning.
Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma looked in stunning touch and kept smashing boundaries at will. The opening duo shared a stand of 46 runs in 6.1 overs before the dismissal of de Kock.
From there on, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav took the onus on themselves to do the job for their franchise. They batted sensibly and found the boundaries in crucial junctures of the game. Eventually, MI chased the target down with 23 deliveries to spare.
