“It’s going to be challenging but the good thing is a gap, players will have time to re-group,” Kohli maintained.

The head coach Shastri maintained if the Men in Blue managed to play their A game, they would be in good stead. He added the current lot of players has experience on their back and plenty have been achieved so far.

“If we play up to potential the World Cup will be here. The pitches might be flat, in England overhead conditions will matter. If you go to London, it will. You have to be prepared to be flexible. This is an experienced unit, we have accomplished. Each one compliments each other,” Shastri added.

On the other side, the bowling unit is bolstered by Jasprit Bumrah. Moreover, Mohammed Shami’s rich vein of form has helped India’s cause. Moreover, Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be keen to shrug off his lean patch. While going by his potential, he would be an impactful bowler at the death alongside Bumrah.

India before facing prominent South Africa will face New Zealand and Bangladesh on May 25 and 28 respectively.
