Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has picked up a hamstring injury during Bangladesh’s warm-up game against India at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on Tuesday (May 28). The right-arm pacer is nursing an injury after nursing a hamstring strain on his left leg.
So, it further saw him spending most of the time off the ground ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019 which will commence from May 30 in London.
Mortaza while bowling his sixth over, pulled a hamstring which compelled him to get the treatment at the earliest. However, he walked off the ground after conceding 23 runs off 36 deliveries.
Meanwhile, it is seen as a massive blow for the Tigers ahead of their World Cup campaign. However, Bangladesh will begin with their World Cup campaign on June 2 against South Africa at The Oval in London.
The senior campaigner Mortaza has bowled his heart out while keeping India batsmen quiet for some time.
Earlier, Mortaza has struggled during the Tri-nation series which included the Windies in Ireland.
While speaking about his ordeal, Mortaza asserted things went well in initial overs. He added he usually tends to face issues in early overs, but that was not the case this time around.
Mortaza in trouble, so as, Bangladesh:

Usually, it takes 7-10 days to heal the hamstring, which further depends on the extent of the injury.
“A lot of the times in such cases, I face trouble bowling the first one or two overs. Once I get through that, I don’t face any more problems. I also wasn’t facing any problems today,” Bdnews24.com quoted Mortaza as saying.
As Mortaza might be regretting over his decision to bowl extensively, he revealed that he wanted to practice when he found Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scoring runs at a pace.
“But I pulled a hamstring during the 6th over. I could’ve stopped after four or five overs but Rohit and Kohli were looking to score runs quickly during that period. I felt that I needed to practice bowling in such a situation,” Mortaza remarked.
However, despite the hamstring, Mortaza will take on Proteas next well as he is racing against time to prove his fitness for their much-awaited game.
On Tuesday, Bangladesh lost their second warm-up game against India by 95 runs after being restricting at 264 runs 49.3 overs. Earlier, India posts a mammoth total of 359 for seven in 50 allotted overs.
The first warm-up game for the Tigers against Pakistan was abandoned due to inclement weather.
