The right-handed fast bowler Lasith Malinga set to fly back home in order to perform his last rights for his mother-in-law. The flamboyant cricketer will travel back home after the completion of the game against Bangladesh, which is scheduled on June 11th.
According to a release from Sri Lanka Cricket,” Malinga will leave the team following Sri Lanka’s World Cup Game against Bangladesh, which will be played today, as his Mother-In-Law has passed away.”
However, the veteran player is expected to join the team, before the team’s next World Cup game. It will be played against Australia on the 15th June 2019.

Lasith Malinga will be available for the game against Australia:

Dimuth Karunaratne’s side has earned three points from three games in the World Cup so far. They lost to New Zealand in their opening match. Then beaten Afghanistan before a rain-abandoned game against Pakistan in Bristol on June 7.
If there is no result again in their clash with Bangladesh, it would be a major blow to their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.

Sri Lanka has already been dented a blow with pacer Pradeep ruled out for the clash against Bangladesh. He dislocated his little finger during practice. He is expected to regain full fitness in a week’s time but a timeline on his return is still unclear.
“Nuwan was given treatment at the hospital, while the doctors reset his dislocated finger. The cut on his finger was closed with stitches. He was also administered with antibiotics,” team manager Asantha De Mel said.
Lasith Malinga had a match to forget in the opening 10-wicket defeat by New Zealand when he conceded 46 runs in five overs without taking a wicket but bounced back with 3-39 in the 34-run victory over Afghanistan
