Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has slammed England cricketer for showing a negative mindset ahead of their must-win game against India on June 30. Meanwhile, England lost their last two games against Sri Lanka and Australia and find themselves on the verge of a possible knock out from the tournament where they entered as the hot favourites.
Vaughan slams Bairstow’s negative mindset
England opener Jonny Bairstow who is going through a lean patch of form in this World Cup took on the former cricketers like Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen who criticised England’s performance in the last two matches. The batters failed miserably as they managed to score only 212 against Sri Lanka while it got better by nine runs against defending champions Australia. The host came to the tournament as the best batting side, and their recent outings have raised question marks.

Pietersen said current skipper Eoin Morgan was “scared” in the 64-run defeat by Australia, while Bairstow was played a radio clip of Vaughan saying England could be heading for their worst World Cup.
“People were waiting for us to fail,” said Bairstow. “They are not willing us on to win, in many ways, they are waiting for you to get that loss, so they can jump on your throat. It’s a typical English thing to do, in every sport,” he added.

But Michael Vaughan has hit back on Friday saying that England have never got this much support before. He also seemed concerned that with this negative mindset running in the team, how far England will progress in this World Cup. Vaughan also reminded him that they lost the matches due to their own failures and not the media.
How wrong can @jbairstow21 be,” Vaughan posted on his Instagram account. “Never has England team had so much support but it’s you and your team that has disappointed Jonny .. WIN 2 games and you are in the semis .. With this negative, pathetic mindset I am concerned though.. it’s not the media’s fault you have lost 3 games .. !!!” he added.
