The interview for the Head coach and supporting staff of Pakistan national cricket team has started on Thursday. The five-member panel of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) headed by Intikhab Alam is taking the interview. Former players like Dean Jones, Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younis applied for the post.

Chances for Waqar Younis to become the bowling coach is more as Muhammad Akram withdrew his application. He was the youngest captain of Pakistan team and also was the head coach of the team. Waqar Younis resigned from the post in 2011. The fast bowler has played 87 Test matches and picked 373 wickets.

Jalal-ud-Din, the former Pakistan fast bowler, had also applied for a bowling coach. But was not invited even though he is an experienced coach and qualify all the eligibility area for the bowling coach position. He was disappointed with PCB’s decision.
“If they treat their master coaches like this and ignore and disgrace them, then Pakistan cricket will not move ahead,” Jalal-ud-din told reporters in Karachi.
Misbah to most likely to be the coach of Pakistan national cricket team; Waqar Younis is likely to join as the bowling coach
Misbah ul Haq and Mohsin Khan were present for the interview while former Australian batsman Dean Jones was interviewed through Skype, a well-found source informed.
Former West Indies player Courtney Walsh has also applied for the position of Head Coach for Pakistan national cricket team.
Mohsin was the chief selector of PCB in 2010. But after Waqar resigned from the post he acted as an interim coach between 2011 and 2012. The team won some consecutive international series under him.
Both Dean Jones and Misbah ul Haq doesn’t have prior experience of coaching while the requirement was three-year experience in coaching.
Speculations are being made that Misbah ul Haq and Waqar Younis will be the priority for head coach and bowling coach respectively.

Batting coach, fielding coach, fitness and conditioning trainer will be appointed after discussing with the head coach of the Pakistan national cricket team.
Mickey Arthur‘s and supporting staffs contract were not renewed by the PCB after the ICC World Cup 2019.
