After winning the Jamaica Test, Indian captain Virat Kohli became the most successful Test captain for India. It was India’s 28th Test victory under Virat Kohli’s captaincy.

On the fourth day of this Test match, the host side Windies were bundled out for 210 runs in the fourth innings. India won this Test by 257 runs while they set the fourth innings target of 468 runs for the hosts. It was India’s second-largest Test victory (by runs) on the Caribbean soil.

Earlier in this Test match, Windies captain Jason Holder decided to bowl first after winning the toss. The visiting side India scored 416 runs with the help of Hanuma Vihari‘s century (111) and three half-centuries by Mayank Agarwal (55), Virat Kohli (76) and Ishant Sharma (57).

In reply, Windies were all-out on 117 runs, thanks to Jasprit Bumrah (6/27) best bowling figures in a Test innings. Bumrah also claimed a hat-trick in that innings.

Leading by 299 runs, India decided to bat again instead of forcing Windies for the follow-on. After managing 168/4, Indian captain declared that innings. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane (64*) and Hanuma Vihari (53*) played crucial knocks in that innings.

Chasing down the 468 runs target in the fourth innings, Windies lost their all wickets on 210 runs. Shamarh Brooks scored 50 runs in that innings which was their best knock in this entire Test match. Vihari won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding batting performances in this Test.

It was the 28th victory for Virat Kohli as a Test captain, while it was his 48th Test match as a captain. With this victory, Kohli surpassed the previous record-holder MS Dhoni and claimed the most Test victories as an Indian captain. Dhoni led the Indian side in 60 Tests, and out of those, India won 27 matches.

In overall, Kohli is now in the joint sixth position in the list of most Test victories as a captain. Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming also led his team in 28 Test victories.

Meanwhile, with this victory, India completed the whitewash in this two-match Test series against the host Windies. In the first Test of this series at Antigua, India claimed their record-margin away Test victory (by runs) by 318 runs.
