Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed feels that Babar Azam is the same category of the present world-class batsmen Steven Smith, Virat Kohli, Joe Root and Kane Williamson.

The 24-year-old Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam is a highly talented batsman. He is very consistent with the bat in the present time.

The right-handed batsman has played 21 Tests, 72 ODIs and 30 T20Is where he has scored 1,235 runs, 3,213 runs and 1,247 runs respectively. His Test average is 35.28 while his ODI average is 53.55 and T20I average is 54.21.

At present, Babar Azam is the no.1-ranked T20I batsman, no.3-ranked ODI batsman and no.16-ranked Test batsman. He is the present vice-captain of the national team in ODI and T20I cricket.

In the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Babar finished as the leading run-scorer for Pakistan. The right-handed batsman scored 474 runs in that tournament in eight innings with an average of 67.71. He was very consistent in that tournament as he scored 22, 63, 30, 48, 69, 101*, 45 and 96 runs respectively. Overall, Babar finished as the eighth-most run-scorer in that tournament.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has recently praised Babar Azam for his consistent batting performances. He feels that very quickly Babar can be in the category of the present world-class batsmen.

Sarfaraz claimed, “Babar Azam can be in that category the [of Smith, Kohli, Root and Williamson] way he is progressing. In truth, he even ranks among them now. If he can keep up his form, he’ll begin to be talked among that list by everyone very quickly.”
