After the first Test match against South Africa, Rohit Sharma became the superstar of the Test cricket. He played first time as the Test opener in Visakhapatnam. Virat Kohli‘s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma is impressed with Rohit Sharma’s performance.

Rohit did an outstanding job as he broke many records in his debut match as the Test opener. In the first inning, he scored 176 runs and built a strong opening partnership with Mayank Agarwal of 317 runs. His bat didn’t stop in the second innings as he scored another century.

Rohit Sharma is playing the natural game, as usual, he is not hesitating to hit boundaries. He kept entertaining everybody with his sixes and fours. Rajkumar Sharma opines that Rohit’s skill will help India in Test matches. He compared Rohit with Virender Sehwag and expresses that the Indian team has found the next Sehwag.

“Rohit is an outstanding player. Everyone knows about the talent he possesses. He was known for his batting in the ODI format, but he showed everyone that he can be a great Test player as well,” Sharma told ANI.

“India has found an established opener now. He can accelerate whenever the team requires him to. I think the team has found another Sehwag. Rohit scored five hundred in the World Cup and he has earned his place in the Test squad.” he added.

India declared the first innings after scoring 502 runs. South Africa played very well in their first innings. With the help of twin centuries from Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock, Proteas scored 431 runs. India still had a lead of 71 runs.

It was a very clinical performance – Rajkumar Sharma

In the second innings, Rohit Sharma’s 127 runs and Cheteshwar Pujara‘s 81 runs helped the team to set the fourth-innings target of 395 runs. On the fifth day, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja bowled very well and the visitors were all out at 191 runs. The pitch helped Mohammed Shami as he picked five wickets in that innings and he also got a good support of Jadeja who picked up four wickets. Rajkumar Sharma also praised the efforts of Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shami.

“It was a very clinical performance. The way our bowlers performed today was very nice to see. Bowlers maintained their intensity throughout. Ashwin picked up seven wickets in the first innings and in the second innings, Jadeja showed his class. Shami was outstanding as well, he showed how useful he can be,” said Sharma.
