South Africa is playing its first Test series after the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. They lost their first Test match against India which played in Visakhapatnam. Though they had a good start in their first innings, at last, India halted them to reach the target and they lost their first Test match. South Africa’s interim coach Enoch Nkwe talks about the transition period of the South Africa team.
After the ICC World Cup 2019, South Africa has admitted young and inexperienced players in the team. Most of the players have no experience in the Indian field and this is a drawback for them.

Many experienced players have retired or have taken rest after the tournament. The Proteas are touring India with a young team but they are talented. Nkwe opines that the defeat doesn’t affect him. At this time, the team should focus on the overall output and think of the long picture in the cricket.

“It didn’t affect me at all. I have embraced the situation and my biggest focus is to create a strong foundation. We have worked a lot behind the scenes to help this team grow in the next four years,” said Nkwe, who had played 42 first-class games.

“We would like to define the character of the team, hopefully, the puzzle comes together and we can put in some good performances, which can (in turn) produce good results,” he added.
“But ultimately, it’s all about the big picture. And we need to be patient as some players might take a bit more time to produce the type of performances we are looking for.”
Football manager Pep Guardiola’s inspires South African coach
South African coach Enoch Nkwe’s is inspired by the coaching style of Spanish football manager Pep Guardiola. He opines that he follows Guardiola style. As Guardiola guide the team to become a better human being, Nkwe wants to follow his direction.

“He (Pep Guardiola) is a special human being. He has produced special performances and (I like) the belief he has in his system. Just the drive he has to improve systems, improve human beings to be better and better all the time.”
Guardiola has guided FC Barcelona to multiple Champions League titles and has helped Manchester City win English Premier League titles. Nkwe opines that Guardiola works with passion and he wants to follow his footsteps. He is delightful for the opportunity given to him.
