While the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has officially taken the Presidential responsibility of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday (23rd October), Vinod Rai-led Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) ended their 33-month long reign in the board. Rai feels Ganguly is the best man to handle the BCCI.
Early this month, Sourav Ganguly secured the BCCI President post after there was no opposition for that post. On Wednesday, Ganguly officially became the 39th BCCI President unanimously during the general meeting.

Vinod Rai has huge respect for Sourav Ganguly. He recently revealed that his respect for Sourav has grown up higher after Ganguly handled the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) efficiently.
Before taking up the BCCI President role, Ganguly was the President of CAB. He experienced the CAB administrative role for more than five years.
I have great respect for Sourav Ganguly – Vinod Rai
Rai feels that Ganguly is the best man to take the BCCI President responsibility at present.

In a recent interview, Vinod Rai told PTI, “I have great respect for Sourav…My respect for him grew even more watching him efficiently manage the Cricket Association of Bengal and the fact that cricketer of that capability and distinction will be running the BCCI. I don’t think there is anyone better than Sourav to take over the reins of BCCI.”
Sourav Ganguly will continue the BCCI President role till July 2020. At that time, the former Indian captain will complete his six consecutive years of administrative roles in Indian cricket. From July 2020, Ganguly will face the mandatory three-year cooling-off period.
Vinod Rai is also happy to see four former national cricketers in the major administrator roles in Indian cricket. While Ganguly has taken the BCCI President role, former cricketer Brijesh Patel becomes the IPL chairman. Meanwhile, another former men’s cricketer and two-time coach Anshuman Gaekwad and women’s captain Shantha Rangaswamy are in the Apex Council.
Rai added, “It has been a very satisfying experience because there are four former players in major administration now. There is Sourav (Ganguly) as BCCI president, IPL chairman is Brijesh Patel, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy are in the Apex Council.”
