With the time progress, Delhi’s air quality is moving towards the worst. The Bollywood actress and Goodwill Ambassador UN Environment, Dia Mirza has slammed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for deciding to go ahead with the upcoming Delhi T20I between India and Bangladesh as per schedule, despite the continuous ‘very poor’ air quality.
Bangladesh will start the three-match T20I series against the hosts India from this Sunday (3rd November). Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the opening game of the T20I series. But Delhi’s continuous unhealthy air quality has raised the big question on the possibilities of this T20I.

In last few years, Delhi is struggling due to the very poor air quality. Like the recent past years, the Indian capital city’s air quality is deteriorating after the Diwali festival.
Air Quality Index (AQI) measures the situation of air quality. The 0-50 AQI means ‘good’ while 51-100 AQI is ‘satisfactory’ and 101-200 AQI is ‘moderate’. On the other hand, 201-300 AQI means ‘poor’, 301-400 AQI means ‘very poor’ and 401-500 AQI means ‘severe’ air quality.
In post-Diwali, Delhi’s air quality is mostly touching the 300 or higher marks. Recently, Dia Mirza has shared the latest AQI which shows the critical number of 412. The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) meter also advises avoiding outdoor physical activities. According to the SAFAR meter, the present air quality can affect the heart or lung.
The Delhi air quality is a big concern for everyone, Dia Mirza unhappy with BCCI’s stubborn decision
India and Bangladesh team have already reached in Delhi. But, like the other Delhi people, the cricketers are also struggling to continue the proper outdoor practice. Bangladesh cricketers are wearing masks in the outdoor training.
The BCCI has faced numerous objections in recent times over the Delhi T20I. The BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also admitted about this serious condition. However, he has clarified that it is not possible to cancel or shift the game at the last minute.
But the present situation is worrying. Public health emergency has been already declared in Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has recently claimed the city has turned into a gas chamber. While he distributed masks to the school children, he has also announced the school shut till 5th November 2019.
In this situation, the Delhi T20I has again entered under the serious doubt. Now, Dia Mirza has also slammed the BCCI for staying with their initial schedule, instead of cancelling it.
