The Indian fast bowlers have continued to impress with their performances. The hosts were able to skittle out Bangladesh for a paltry score of 150 and the Indian pacers scalped seven wickets on an opening day. Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets. Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin believes their pace is one of the most lethal attacks in the world.

Shami was also on a hat-trick but could not get the third consecutive wicket after the tea break. Furthermore, Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav scalped two wickets each. On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin snared two wickets whereas Ravindra Jadeja went wicketless.

Ravichandran Ashwin said in the press conference, “They have been some great rhythm, sometimes you feel something’s happening in every spell they are bowling or at least they make it happen. Shami, Umesh, and Ishant have been bowling well as a pack. Add Bumrah to it and it becomes one of the most lethal pace bowling attacks in the world,” Ashwin said.

Indian pace attack has taken giant strides.

On the other hand, Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque won the toss and decided to bat first. Ashwin added that they were a bit surprised by the call as they expected them to bowl first. There was a bit of help for the Indian seamers in the first session and they were able to make the most of it.

“Personally, I thought it was a very brave decision, we expected them to bowl first but they batted. However, the way they batted was commendable, few of their batsmen played well. It is never easy to bat on a surface which has life and which is damp and I thought Mominul and some of them batted well,” Ashwin said at the end of the day’s play.

India has put their noses in front on the opening day of the first Test match. The hosts skittled out Bangladesh for a paltry score of 150 and have added 84 runs for the loss of one wicket. Thus, India trail by only 64 runs and they would like to take a huge first-innings lead against Bangladesh.
