After winning the historic day/night pink-ball Test match, the Indian captain Virat Kohli credited Sourav Ganguly to start India’s winning mindset in every cricket assignment. The legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar doesn’t like this comment as he reminded that India also achieved success in their time too.
India started their new era with a dominant victory. It was their first-ever day/night pink-ball Test match experience where India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs at Eden Gardens (Kolkata).
Indian cricketers are dominating international cricket. They are in unbeatable form in Test cricket as the Indian national cricket team is the no.1-ranked Test side. In the ongoing 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship, India have won all their seven Test matches which they have played. At present, India are the top of the points table in the 2019-21 ICC World Test Championship with a whopping 360 points while Australia are standing in the second position with 116 points.

After winning the historic Eden Test, Virat Kohli credited the players’ attitude on the field. Talking about this desperation to win every match, Kohli credited the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly to start this. Incidentally, Sourav Ganguly is the present BCCI President who played a desperate role to begin the day/night Test match in India.
Kohli said after that match, “I think it’s all about the mindset you walk in with. If you have a set template saying I might not be bowling that much in the game, then your body language is such… These guys are very hungry and I feel we are in the right kind of space to capitalise on opportunities and everyone is enjoying playing in this team. That’s the standout feature about us.
“It was all about getting into their heads and getting them out which used to happen, but now we have learned to stand up and give it back. It all started with Dada’s team and we are just carrying it forward. The bowling group now is fearless and they believe in themselves playing against any batsman. We are reaping the rewards for all the hard work we put in the last three-four years.”
The Indian team also won/ drew series in the ’70s & ’80s – Sunil Gavaskar
The legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar doesn’t like this comment from the present Indian captain Virat Kohli. Gavaskar feels that Kohli is overly praising Ganguly because of his new role as BCCI President. The legend pointed out that Indian team also won or drew the international series in the ’70s & ’80s
Sunil Gavaskar told Star Sports, “Yeah, I know Dada is BCCI president so you have to say good things about him. Today one gets a feeling Indian cricket started from 2000 or 1994/95. But Virat was born in 1988, so he may not know but Indian team also won/ drew series in ’70s & ’80s.”
Sunil Gavaskar played for India from 1971 to 1987. He played 125 Tests and 108 ODIs for India.
