Sometimes the injury can be horrific in any kind of events. We have already experienced some of these terrific incidents on the cricket field. Some players feel very hard to get out of that kind of incident. Recently, New Zealand cricketer Andrew Ellis has taken a big lesson from his nasty past incident and has brought a solution to avoid this in future. While he got a blow on his head during his bowling in past, he has now started to using helmet during his bowling. Yes! He was wearing a helmet when he was bowling.

In early 2018, during a domestic cricket match, when Andrew Ellis was bowling to Jeet Raval, one of the shots from Raval hit on the right-arm pacer Ellis’ head and went to the sixer. Though he passed the concussion tests and also batted in that game, it still scares him obviously.

After that nasty incident, Andrew Ellis said, “For guys like me who tend to bowl at the death and try to bowl yorkers, it’s probably a prudent move. It’s better to try and be a little innovative here, and be the world leader around this issue.”

Now, the 37-year-old Andrew Ellis has come up with a bowler’s helmet which can be used during the bowling. On Wednesday (27th November), when Canterbury and Northern Districts were playing in the Ford Trophy 2019/20 at Christchurch, Ellis came to bowl with a helmet. Canterbury won that thrilling 50-over game by just one run. Apart from scoring crucial 49 runs, the 37-year-old all-rounder also managed the bowling figures of 8-0-38-1.

However, it wasn’t the first time when a bowler was using a helmet during his/her bowling. In December 2017, during the Super Smash T20 match between Otago Volts and the Knights, Otago pacer Warren Barnes brought out a helmet to protect the bowlers.
