Dale Steyn, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Angelo Mathews, Chris Lynn, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh have put their names in the top bracket for the IPL 2020 auction. The players in top bracket have a base price of Rs 2 Crore. Steyn had gone unsold in the prevous IPL auction but was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore as a replacement for Nathan Coulter-Nile.

After playing two matches, he suffered a shoulder issue and was ruled out of the season. The shoulder issue also saw him miss World Cup 2019.

Cummins, Maxwell, Hazlewood and Marsh wil be making their IPL comebacks. All the four players decided against playing IPL 2019 due to World Cup 2019. Marsh had also missed IPL 2018 to play county cricket to prepare for Ashes 2019.
Lynn was surprisingly released by Kolkata Knight Riders and is expected to bag a big amount. Mathews, the last player in the top bracket, went unsold in the previous IPL auction. He is unlikely to attract a bid this time as well.

A total of nine players have a base price of Rs 1.5 Crore. The list includes Chris Morris, Kane Richardson, Shaun Marsh, Robin Uthappa, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, David Willey, Chris Woakes and Kyle Abbott. Out of these, Roy and Morgan are expected to go for a high price.

Surprisingly, Aaron Finch’s name does not feature in the top two brackets which means that he has brought down his base price. In 2018, he entered the auction at Rs 1.5 Crore and was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 6.2 Crore.
The likes of Willey, Woakes and Abbott are likely to go unsold in the auction. The board has already announced that a total of 971 players have registered for the league and there are only 73 spots that need to be filled.
The IPL auction for the next season of the league takes place on December 19. Royal Challengers Bangalore, who released 12 players, will have a tough job as they will have to sort of build a new team for the next season.
