India Should Play At Least One Day-Night Test Match In The Series: Sourav Ganguly 1

The motive to start the pink ball game in India was seen to be accomplished in Kolkata. In Eden Gardens, approx. 55,000 people daily came to see the Indian team playing its first Test match under the light. BCCI’s president Sourav Ganguly has expressed that he is looking forward to hosting more day-night Test match in different venues of the nation.

For many years there were talks to introduce day-night Test match in the Indian cricket but It came to the ground when the former Indian captain took over the reins of BCCI. Sourav Ganguly left no stone unturned to promote the first pink-ball Test of India.

In the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, India played the second match with the pink ball. India inaugurated the new tradition with the victory. Virat Kohli-led team had also a special celebration of the victory as they took the rounds of the ground and thanked the crowd for attending the event.

Sourav Ganguly expressed that he will take further steps to increase the outreach of pink ball game after discussing with the boards the outcomes of the match in Eden Gardens. He also wants that India should play a day-night Test match in every series.

“I am pretty upbeat about it. I feel this is the way forward. Not every Test, but at least one Test in a series.”

“I will share my experiences with the board and we will try and implement it in other places.”

Nobody wants to play Test cricket in front of 5,000 people: Sourav Ganguly

Earlier, the former cricketer opined that great players like Virat Kohli should not play in front of an empty stadium. He believes that after seeing the crowd in Kolkata, no one would want to play Test cricket in front of 5,000 people.

“After this, everyone is ready. Nobody wants to play Test cricket in front of 5,000 people,” added the former India captain.
