Indian chief coach Ravi Shastri believes MS Dhoni might not be keen on playing the One Day Internationals but T20Is could be an option in the future. Dhoni had last played in the Indian colors when the team lost the crucial semi-final contest against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup 2019. Subsequently, he took an indefinite break from the game and decided to serve the Indian Army.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is expected to play in the Indian Premier League and lead the Chennai Super Kings. In fact, Dhoni has also started to train, which means that he is looking forward to making a comeback. However, Dhoni has not made any official announcements for the same. When asked about the same recently, Dhoni said that he doesn’t want to reveal anything till January.

Dhoni will play the IPL – Shastri.

On the other hand, Ravi Shastri heaped praise on the former skipper. Dhoni has been a big player for the Indian team and it would be interesting to note when he will take a call on his future.

Ravi Shastri said while talking to India Today, “I think he will play the IPL and take it from there. If he has an outstanding IPL I don’t rule anything out with that kind of experience with that kind of knowledge of the sport.

“It’s sensible (the break). I like the time when he is starting to play again. I don’t think he is too keen on the one-day stuff. He is finished with Test cricket. T20 is an option. It’s a format that is tailor-made for him. But will his body be able to cope with the demands only he will answer?

Meanwhile, the next T20 World Cup will take place in Australia next year. MS Dhoni has not ruled himself out and there is a possibility that he may be available to play in the big event. We all know that Dhoni is a big tournament player and it would be interesting if he decides to get back into the team.

“Dhoni is a big event player. The World Cup was a big event. He gave it his all. We didn’t win that we lost in the semi-final. He might be wanting to take a break. But he is going to play the IPL. I saw a photograph the other day. He is pulling out a bat and he has started training.

“The way I look at it is that he will start training. You can’t leave the game. If you want to play again, you can leave the game for that long. It will catch up. You need to get that feel of bat hitting ball, with the gloves the work he has to do”.

Dhoni is most likely going to be back for the IPL and his future in the International circuit will depend on his form in the tournament. The talisman is still fit as a fiddle and his return will depend on his form.
