The co-owner of the Punjab based franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Preity Zinta posted a beautiful message for the batting allrounder, Irfan Pathan. On Saturday (4th January), the veteran Indian cricketer, Irfan announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. Ever since his announcement, social media is brimming with heart-melting wishes sent by his fans and fellow cricketers.

The all-rounder paved his way through the national team with his extraordinary talent with the ball and the numbers he scored with his bat. Irfan was a part of many historical cricket events of India, the first one being the first Test win on the Australian soil against the hosts. He started off at a pace at the tender age of 19 and similarly, he was seen sitting by the sides.

Soon, his form dipped in both the Test and the limited-overs formats of cricket. Irfan was in-and-out of the national side ever since 2006. But his allrounder capabilities earned him a call for the inaugural ICC World T20 2007 where he bagged the Man of the Match title for plucking match-winning three wickets in the final of the tournament against Pakistan.

However, Irfan was not in the international cricket arena since 2012 while he earned a regular position in the cash-rich T20 league of India. The prominent seam and swing bowler of India featured in IPL till 2017, while he played for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for three years in the early days of the league.

Irfan featured for KXIP in 2008 plucking 15 wickets in 14 matches pairing with a total of 131 runs, in 2009 his figures increased to 17 wickets and 196 runs from 14 matches while in 2010 he scored off 276 runs with taking 15 wickets for the franchise.

However, the cricketer shared a different bond with the franchise and the Bollywood actress and co-owner of the KXIP, Preity Zinta. While everyone is wishing their best to the veteran cricketer, Preity shared a post on Twitter with a picture of the two during an IPL match. She wished good luck to the cricketer for his second innings after his retirement from cricket.

Preity Wrote:

“I learned so many things about the game from you when IPL started. You have always been an amazing person and team player. Thank you for the wonderful memories @IrfanPathan All the very best for your second innings. Much love always.”
