On 8th January 2011, Rohit Sharma was bought by Mumbai Indians in the IPL auction. The right-hander was roped in by the Mumbai Indians for 2 million dollars. Since then, it has been a wonderful journey for Rohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians. Rohit took over the captaincy reins in 2013 and led the franchise to its maiden IPL title. The right-hander represented Deccan Chargers from IPL 2008 to IPL 2010.
Currently, Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in IPL history. The talisman has led Mumbai Indians to four IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 season. The right-hander has also delivered the goods with the bat. The opener has scored 4898 in the 188 IPL matches at an average of 31.6 and a strike rate of 130.82.

Rohit Sharma has led Mumbai Indians with aplomb and it is under his captaincy that Mumbai Indians have blossomed. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians were able to rope in the services of Australian batsman Chris Lynn for his base price of INR 2 crores in IPL 2020 auction.
Furthermore, Mumbai Indians also got the services of Nathan Coulter-Nile for INR 8 crores. The club also has the services of fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians were able to clinch their fourth IPL title after they defeated Chennai Super Kings by one run in IPL 2019. Lasith Malinga had bowled a fine yorker to Shardul Thakur to plumb him in front of the wickets when two runs were needed off the final ball.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma is currently enjoying some rest from the national team for the ongoing series against Sri Lanka. He will return for the ODI series against Australia which starts from 14th January at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
