Former Indian skipper and the concurrent President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly is hopeful of Virat Kohli-led India team to make a come back in the impending ODI against Australia. Meanwhile, in the first limited-overs game against Australia at Wankhede, the Indian battalion batting line-up barring a dew could not hold their stand against Aussies quality bowling attack. After 2005, it is for the first time when India was taken down by a whopping 10-wicket margin in the 50-over fold.

In the anticipated series opener, Australia subdued the winning streak of Kohli & his men when they took the thrashing opener, Rohit Sharma, for just 10 runs in the early overs. However, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul kept things under control before they were dismissed with the mere difference of six balls.

The southpaw Dhawan, who came back after recovering from injury scored crucial 74 runs while Rahul gave away his wicket to Steve Smith when he was just three runs away from half-century.

Other than Dhawan and Rahul, none of Kohli’s men were able to keep their stand against the ruthless Australian bowlers. Rishabh Pant (28) and Ravindra Jadeja (25) tried to hold the sinking ship of India cricket to cross the 200-run mark before these two were caught.

It took less than 38 overs for the Aussie openers to chase down the target set by the hosts, Warner had registered 128* runs whereas. Finch scored unbeaten 110 runs.
