One of the toughest job in any cricket match is hitting six sixes in an over. That’s why it is a very special achievement for a batsman, in particular. Recently, during a game in CAB 1st Division League, the 27-year-old Dipanjan Mukherjee had smashed six sixes in an over to break the internet.

On last Tuesday (4th February) during the first day of the game between Netaji Subhash Institute and Md. Sporting Club at High Court Ground (Kolkata), Mukherjee achieved this special feat.

The captain of Netaji Subhash Institute smashed six sixes during the 83rd over to the medium-pacer Md Nasim. Nasim conceded a total of 37 runs in that over as he conceded one wide on the second delivery of that over.

The right-handed batsman Mukherjee started that over with a sixer over the deep mid-wicket. Then he hit consecutive sixes over the wide long-on, straight long-on, long-off, deep backward square leg and wide long-on respectively.

However, Mukherjee missed out his double-century just for two runs as he was dismissed on 198 runs off 187 balls. He hit 17 fours and nine sixes in that innings. On the first ball of the 85th over, when he went to hit a sixer against the opposition captain Ompal Boken, the right-handed batsman was caught at the long-on region.

Dipanjan Mukherjee had no earlier plan for six sixes in a league match:

Talking about his six sixes, Mukherjee said according to bengali.abplive.com that he had no ‘earlier plan’ for that. But after successfully hitting five sixes in a row, he went to hit another six on the final ball of that over.

However, he is disappointed for not completing the double-century in that innings.

Though he was in the primary squad of Railways team for the Ranji Trophy 2019/20, Dipanjan hasn’t managed to enter to the final squad. The former Bengal U-23 cricketer wants to play Ranji Trophy, and it will be more cheerful for him if he represents the Bengal team anytime soon.
