Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was always overshadowed by the emergence of the world’s premier tournament, Indian Premier League (IPL) in modern-day era. Case in point, St Lucia Zouks have always been in limelight for all the wrong reasons as Darren Sammy-led Zouks franchise finished second to last in the 2019 season.
The team tasted more bitter defeats (6) than the number of wins (3) just three wins and six defeats. However, in a bid to take St Lucia Zouks franchise to the next level, KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited, who are the owners of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the IPL, bought the CPL team St Lucia Zouks.

The 2020 edition of the CPL is scheduled to begin on August 19, with the final scheduled for September 26. KPH Dream Cricket Private Limited also became the second group of IPL owners to currently own a CPL team along with Red Chillies Entertainment, who own Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the CPL.
Earlier, Vijay Mallya also owned a Caribbean team, Barbados Tridents apart from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.
